Healing Through Movement

At 67, Jackie W. knows how to overcome challenges. With a history of working on a farm, in a steel factory, a lunchroom, Kroger and an ER, she’s always been on the move. Even after facing multiple surgeries—including a cracked pelvis, foot surgeries and a total knee replacement—Jackie refuses to slow down. Thanks to the expert care and dedication of the physical therapy team at Owensboro’s Advanced Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, she continues to maintain her independence and active lifestyle.

Jackie has developed a strong bond with Advanced Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine over the years, trusting them through each step of her recovery.

“I have history with Advanced [Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine],” Jackie said. “After numerous surgeries, I have come to know and love this place. Therapy is crucial to healing, and you, as their patient, feel that commitment that they have.”

Through every session, Jackie has felt supported and encouraged by her physical therapists, including Kaylee and Daniel. Jackie explained, “I appreciated the therapists that have helped me keep my independence through my surgeries. Thank you Ms. Kaylee, Daniel and all the wonderful people who have treated me like I am the most important person in the room.”

Jackie knows that our physical therapy team is invested in her success. “They go out of their way to make me feel like they want me to get ahead,” she said. “They want me to have a better life than what I have now. And that does, that does make you feel really good. They're not just doing their job. They really do make you feel good,” said Jackie.

Even when faced with setbacks, like a fall three weeks into therapy, Jackie found encouragement rather than discouragement. “They encourage you, but they don’t make you feel like a sapsucker because you’re not doing what you really need to do,“ said Jackie.

Determined to continue her progress, Jackie hopes to extend her therapy, saying, “I’m hoping to stay for 12 weeks, if they let me. I really do feel like that would be a benefit to me.”

With her energetic spirit and the dedicated team at Advanced Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine by her side, Jackie continues to push forward, proving that with the right care and determination, nothing can hold her back.
