New Knee Implant Now Available Locally With Dr. Keith Moore Leading the Way
On Feb. 19, board-certified orthopedic surgeon Dr. Keith Moore of Advanced Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine performed one of the first Oxford Cementless Partial Knee replacement surgeries in the region. Partial knee replacement helps relieve pain for patients with partial knee arthritis, or arthritis in one part of the knee. Patients seeking specialized knee care at the region’s most preferred orthopedic practice are encouraged to call 270-926-4100 to be seen at 2780 Frederica St.
Recently, Dr. Moore completed training in the Oxford Cementless Partial Knee procedure that included only 50 surgeons in the U.S. Dr. Moore was also one of the original surgeons in the U.S. to perform Oxford Cemented Partial Knee replacement over 20 years ago. The Oxford Cementless Partial Knee Implant received approval from the Food and Drug Administration in November 2024, making it the first implant of its kind available in the U.S. The implant is associated with long-term effectiveness and reduced operating time. Overall, partial knee replacement offers the following benefits when compared to total knee replacement:
- Decreased risk of revision and other complications.
- Decreased postoperative pain.
- Faster recovery.
- Better range of motion.
“As an orthopedic surgeon, I’m dedicated to improving patient satisfaction and treatment outcomes, which is what this new implant can provide for a growing number of patients," said Dr. Moore. “I’m proud to bring new technologies and treatment options to our community and look forward to seeing more people experience the benefits of state-of-the-art partial knee replacement.”
Dr. Moore received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 1986. He went on to complete his internship and residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. Dr. Moore also served in the U.S. Army as a staff orthopedic surgeon at Darnall Army Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas; a brigade surgeon in New York; and a general medical officer in Schweinfurt, West Germany.
